Message by AWRA-AK President 2013/14

Hello Alaska water resource professionals,

Welcome to the busy summer field season!! Before everyone gets ramped up and disappears for the summer I wanted to write a brief letter on recent and upcoming AWRA-AK business.

It was my pleasure to take over the reigns form Anna Liljedahl this spring as the president of AWRA-AK. I would like to thank Anna for her hard work and diligence during her tenure as president. I would also thank everyone that helped with and attended the spring AWRA-AK conference held at the BP Energy Center May 4-7. Overall it was a great success and it would not have gone as smoothly if not for the efforts of the AWRA board of directors and many others behind the scenes. This was the first conference that was hosted via Webex for online participation. This was a well received development that we plan to continue for future conferences and brown bag lunches.

Because of the busy field season most of our brown lunches will be put on hold until the fall. While you are out in the wilds of Alaska do not forget that we are planning on hosting a "Discharge Measurements in Ice Conditions" class this winter. More details to come on that. So for now, be safe, be productive and have fun this summer.
