Dear Montana AWRA members,

MT AWRA is in its 26th year. We invite you to check out information about our 2009 conference, slated for Missoula on October 1-2 (afternoon fieldtrip Sept. 30) at the delightful Holiday Inn - Parkside. Because our membership and interest in our conference is growing, we are called on to make some changes to the conference format. Most notable is changing the field trip to a Wednesday afternoon. This will open up more time for us on Thursday so that we can have a reasonable pace of two concurrent sessions, giving you more opportunities to hear about more research.

Missoula and the Missoula Valley offer up so many wonderful options for a field trip. Choices were abundant! We chose to stay close to home, and visit the October 2009 status of the Milltown Dam removal and river restoration process. This will give a chance to get an overview of the work, and the challenges of managing a water project that crosses many county boundaries not to mention political divides! We also hope to highlight some of the restoration projects upstream and enjoy discussions within the fisheries and stream rehabilitation community. Our pledge to conference attendees: 3 kegs of beer, and early morning coffee for the Thursday and Friday presentations!!

My thanks to you and our sponsors for supporting Montana AWRA.

Sincerely,
Cam Carstarphen
