Events The NCR Section holds events throughout the September – May program year. A variety of topics, speakers, and panels will be presented in different venues and locations. There will be one field trip or tour each year and joint meetings when possible with other organizations with water or related interests. Next Event: 5 – 7 PM, Tuesday, June 4, 2013 (RAIN OR SHINE!) Tour of a RiverSmart Washington project pilot area Project leaders will give a tour of RiverSmart Washington’s Petworth neighborhood pilot sewershed. The project aims to measure how well intensive use of rain gardens, green roofs and other small-scale “green” techniques can reduce storm water runoff from a neighborhood. Runoff will be monitored and reductions will be estimated and compared with predictions of a “Green Build Out Model”. The project is being conducted by the District Department of the Environment (DDOE), the District Department of Transportation (DDOT), Rock Creek Conservancy, DC Water, LimnoTech, and Casey Trees.
