Welcome to the National Capital Region Section!

The National Capital Region has been reestablished as a Section of the American Water Resources Association to provide a forum for professionals to meet and exchange ideas on all aspects of water resources and related fields. The Section will be responsive to the large variety of professional interests in the metropolitan area including state, federal, regional and local water resource topics.

The NCR Section holds one major event in September and four other events in November, January, March and May. A variety of topics, speakers, and panels will be presented in different venues and locations. There will be one field trip or tour each year and joint meetings when possible with other organizations with water or related interests.

Next Event: Tuesday, June 4, 2013 (RAIN OR SHINE!)

Tour of a RiverSmart Washington pilot area
(AWRA-NCRS Annual Business Meeting and Dinner to Follow)

Project leaders will give a tour of RiverSmart Washington’s Petworth neighborhood pilot sewershed. The project aims to measure how well intensive use of rain gardens, green roofs and other small-scale “green” techniques can reduce storm water runoff from a sewershed.

Please see our Events page for additional information and for details of past events..
