BIG NEWS - New Jersey AWRA is the
Outstanding State Section for 2006! The last time this award was
conferred to New Jersey was over 20 years ago in 1985. Now there are
26 State Sections so we had some tremendous competition. This is a huge
accomplishment in the 36 year history of the Section.
Why did we win? - because of you and the abundance of
activities that the NJ-AWRA has had in recent years. To quote the award
letter, the NJ-AWRA "has shown particular innovation in its programs,
membership growth and establishing AWRA as a significant water resource
professional organization throughout the entire state of New Jersey."
Please see the attached letter from national AWRA on our
recognition.
We will celebrate at our New Water Years
Eve party, so: Save the Date: Friday evening, September
29th. More details to follow. This event was held in
Lambertville last year and we had a capacity crowd of 60 NJ-AWRA members and
guests at the Lambertville Station.
The NJ-AWRA will accept this award on Sunday, November 5,
2006 at the AWRA Annual Water Resources Conference in Baltimore, Maryland.
We hope that you can attend this conference and represent the Section.
With close proximity to NJ, Baltimore is less than three hours away for most of
us. The Section might consider sharing transportation, so if you intend to
go to the conference, let our Membership Coordinator know.
The NJ-AWRA is 128 members strong and continuing to
grow. We need YOU to keep us vibrant. Please contact Membership
Coordinator Mary Paist-Goldman (mpaist@princetonhydro.com) if you
are interested in helping with Section
activities and want to join us in a leadership role. We are looking for
you to get involved.
